meet the volante team

willow

CEO

Willow officially became the CEO of Volante Design in 2015 when it became clear that her strengths for strategy and business far outweighed those of her beloved husband and tireless business partner David. She has
pushed Volante Design to be the company it is today. Allowing David to
focus on design and only design, Willow worked in most other roles of
the company, including fabric/production manager, customer service, marketing manager, convention manager and HR manager. Recently, we've been lucky enough to start filling these roles with amazing new Volante members. Willow has been integral in securing partnerships with outside companies to get Volante products in more places and in front of more people.

On a personal level, Willow enjoys taking long walks with the dog, painting, singing in choir, cooking and reading books. Her favorite fandoms include Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings, Firefly, and almost anything with racecars, or with exceptional design style.

david

Founder & Creative Director

David Volante is that unique visionary who comes along only once in a while. From an early age he had his own ideas of how things should be and who he was. Coming form a LARPing background, he felt the importance of a costume that is equal parts practical, durable, and badass looking. he studied character design and 3D animation in college and has applied that experience to create character-driven fashion. From a technical standpoint, David is exceptional. He has taught himself just about everything he does, from sewing to pattern work. His talent and eye for style is the backbone of Volante Design.

In his spare time, he draws, plays video games (this is considered "research" at Volante Design), and keeps up with his friends. When asked about favorite games, the first five that come to mind are Metal Gear Rising, Burnout Paradise, Horizon Zero Dawn, Hollow Knight, and Shadow of the Colossus. Take from that what you will.

Director of Operations

Which fictional world would you want to live in? I think I'd live in the fantasy world of Shrek because there's magic and fairy tails, but it's also ridiculous.

What's the first game you ever remember playing? My first game I played the crap out of was the original Metroid on NES.

David Y.

Fulfillment Lead & Production Cutter

Which fictional world would you want to live in? I would want to live on the original U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701.

What's the first game you ever remember playing? I don't remember the name, but it was a cowboy shoot out arcade game.

ellen

Sewist

Which fictional world would you want to live in? Probably the Destiny universe; it's my favorite game and I'd love to explore the stars as a super-powered, immortal guardian.

What's the first game you ever remember playing? I remember playing Super Mario World for the Super NES with my cousins at a very young age.

jeremiah

Creative Content Manager

Which fictional world would you want to live in? Mass Effect (but only if I get to live on a cool spaceship).

What's the first game you ever remember playing? Super Mario Bros 2? Maybe The Legend of Zelda? Although I didn't play them on release or anything and was probably a bit older when playing them.

Leslie

Marketing Director

Which fictional world would you want to live in? Either in Stardew Valley (so I can be a cute farmer with no worries) or in Gotham (so I can terrorize the city in a sweet, themed costume). It's a real toss-up.

What's the first game you ever remember playing? Duck Hunt was the first game I remember playing. But Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak was the first game I ever played all the way through.

Abby

Social Media Manager

Which fictional world would you want to live in? I think I’d want to live in the Tears of the Kingdom universe from The Legend of Zelda and just make a living as a merchant selling my little wares like Beedle.

What's the first game you ever remember playing? The first game I ever remember playing all the way through was Phantom Hourglass on the Nintendo DS!
