I wanted this jacket since my first visit to this site a couple of years ago, and boy was it worth the wait. I also had no familiarity with the game - it gives me Deus Ex vibes in the Night Hunter colorway, and that's enough for me. Previously I picked up an Augment J3 in size 37, which fit like a second skin. This time I went up a size - the various straps allowed me to cinch it in just a bit, and allow for layering potential later. Decent warmth; I felt fine out in a 40 degree Chicago day. I appreciate the depth of the front pockets - shallow pockets plus smartphones make me nervous. As another customer noted, the sleeves are long - I imagine since a sleeve adjustment is one of the easier alterations, and Volante can cater to lanky folks at the same time. However, by turning back the cuffs an inch, you reveal more of the accent color material, adding a detail to the cuff and 'shortening' the sleeves. Blessing in disguise! The magnetic clasps also can catch on each other if you wear it fully open; but like a double breasted jacket, *technically* you oughtn't wear it open. But you do you. The only true negative I'd say is that while going up a size gave me the perfect amount of give and take with size, it may have added to the neck, which is generous - and the strap that secures the neck only tightens a small amount, so there's always going to be some odd room there. Minor detail, though.
I received my Zaga as my Powerboost item. I’m not familiar with Dauntless, I’m a Star Trek guy since the beginning That said, I love Zaga. It is warm, comfortable and beautifully crafted. I love the costs and Jackets from Volante Design and highly recommend this. Happy Holidays
First off, the staff at Volante Designs are amazing! I took them up on their sizing consult offer and not only did they nail down my size perfectly, they also took the time to explain why they suggested the size they did. Then, when I ordered the Coat and didn't get the points from my purchase funded to my account, they quickly rectified the situation. Thank goodness they did, because after getting this Coat I'll definitely be using those points when I order from them again! As someone who regularly plays Dauntless, I was already excited about this Coat. Sure, the Nayzaga Armor it's based on isn't particularly strong in-game, but they managed to replicate it pretty well here- you can recognize it comes from the game if you've played it- and the overall design looks excellent! It's very comfortable in mid-to-low temperatures and just feels great to wear. Since receiving it I've been looking for excuses to wear it when I go out, as I've gotten several compliments from friends and strangers already. You can feel the quality in the materials and it looks and feels very durable as well. Also, can I just say more clothes need to make use of these magnetic buckles? They're awesome, not to mention very functional! One thing I'll note is that the maroon accents on the Mercenary color choice is a little darker in-person than they appear on the website. Of course lighting will affect that but even out in direct sunlight I feel it looks a bit darker than the promotional images, but that's not a downside to me personally as I prefer the slightly more subtle coloration anyway. Still, worth noting for future buyers. All in all I have zero complaints and nothing but praise for this Coat and this company. I hope Volante continues to make more excellent products as there are a few things from them I'll be buying soon and hopefully even more to come in the future.
I mean this coat just rules. I only have one other jacket from Volante and that makes two-for-two 100% success on their part. I got one size slightly larger than I normally would but it fits like a glove. Plus I look mondo cool.
I have three Volante products now; sweatshirt, Peregrine and this Zaga. I had some issues when I originally picked it up (grabbed the wrong one) but they swapped it out with the right size, and no issues. I love my little collection, with the only caveat being that I'm a 5'10, 160 lbs guy. Pretty average--so why are my arms always too short! The sleeves on each of the items are a good several inches too long. It's unnoticeable on the Peregrine (which has a tight sleeve design, it just holds in place), and my hoodie can be rolled (I'll probably sew it up), but it's a slightly bigger issue with this coat. Mind you, I love the coat--it looks great, I get compliments, the pockets are outstanding, and I like the buckle design. I just wish that if my arms are at my sides that the sleeve didn't come down to my fingers. Ah well, easier to stay warm in this cool-looking all weather coat.
Hi Seeth, thank you for your continued support! We're thrilled you love our designs and want you to be happy with your Zaga. Would you like to send the coat back to have the sleeves shortened? I will reach out to you via email to discuss.
